The main theme for my work over the next five years can be divided into three distinct projects,
which at the same time are linked by a common investigative course:

1. Words, images and music
In the form of a book with a music CD in the back. 'Visual poetry' is a journey through a non linear story: paintings/installations / films and words. Proto type has been worked on since 2006 although I would like to have the songs produced professionally. The song Fox and wolf (MP3) accompanied the installation and performance at Sørlandsutstillingen 2009. This piece won the travel award, and the jury said: 'Tony Higginson har skapt en imponerende installasjon som kombinerer skulptur, rom, bevegelse og poesi. Komiteen vurderer The Glass House Effect som et kunstverk med overraskende effekter og basert på en original ide. The “video application” for this piece: http://vimeo.com/3113118

2. Culture shock New York
I am going there with two main aims at first:
• to open my life and my work to a larger audience
• to encourage local/ national artist to join me and share in traveling abroad and bringing back cultural inputs
An integral part of this project is of course to exibit my art both in New York and in Kristiansand.

3. Visual writers
In 08 I did the Wergeland jubilee wall painting funded by Vest-Agder and kristiansand kommune. This sparked my inspiration to work on a collection of prints starting with Norwegian writers who have left a long shadow in their wake; an impact often controversial. My next project was Jens Bjørneboe, and from those two works the idea of presenting several important and world-known writers began to emerge. I want to do a woodcut /etching of Knut Hamsun next. Also Axsel Jensen intrigues me.

This I see to be a five-year project to eventually be shown as a traveling exhibition to places connected to the various writers’ home areas and to have a bound book with different printing styles echoing the different writers’ styles. The images will be along side small extracts from their novels. It would be nice to have it translated into different languages to increase the possibility, also as an international gift/ introduction to Norwegian writers. One of my main goals is for this to be a collaborative effort involving and including other artists’ creative inputs.

To summarize
I would like use the next five years to continue to explore this relationship between word and image, whether it be words /sound /rhythm/ or color/atmosphere/dynamic. For example, an installation/interior designed for a particular painting. Or as music CD made at the same time as one large painting and exhibited as an installation performance... Or simply painted words. I want to improve and enrich the communication between these different artistic expressions.
